I can personally attest to the fact that I have had this identical experience and reaction. My family are not football fans, and they are forced to endure the ups and downs of my fandom on a weekly basis. When the Denver Broncos eliminated the Pittsburgh Steelers from the playoffs, I went through a brief period of absolute dejection and my family felt the brunt of it, even though they had nothing to do with it. It’s not something I am proud of, but my family are saints for putting up with me.
So yes Steelers fans, we can all commiserate with people like Meyers and know that no matter how famous a fan is, they are still a fan. Thank you, Seth. We all feel your pain.
