When the injury bug bit the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016, one position it hit hard was the defensive line. The team’s three best linemen all missed time with injury and Cam Heyward went on season-ending IR. Pittsburgh found themselves grasping at straws and healthy players weren’t getting any breaks. But the Jacksonville Jaguars have released defensive lineman Jared Odrick and he’d be a nice mid-level player Steelers’ fans should know well from his days at Penn State.
The Steelers have some nice journeymen players on the roster and a couple of interesting youngsters, but Odrick would be a much more established player and wouldn’t break the back like some other free agents. He would provide the Steelers a rotational player and would hopefully give guys like Heyward and Stephon Tuitt a break now and then so they don’t rack up the massive number of snaps they did two seasons ago.
What do you say, Steeler Nation? Do you want the former Penn State star on the roster or are you ok with the defensive line depth chart as it stands?
