If you are reading this, your first week of fantasy football might not have gone as planned. But do not despair, we’ve got the cure with some great Pittsburgh Steelers waiver-wire pickups that could put your team over the top this week and for the rest of the season. The Steelers had a huge offensive explosion against the Washington Redskins, largely by the usual suspects. However, if you are scanning for some scoring help this week, these three guys might be available.
The Steelers had a huge offensive explosion against the Washington Redskins, largely by the usual suspects. However, if you are scanning for some scoring help this week, these three guys were good in Week 1 and might be available.
Eli Rogers, wide receiver
If you had a Steelers fan in your league, they likely had the foresight to draft Rogers in your fantasy draft. But maybe, just maybe he slipped through the cracks and his performance on Monday night got missed. But six receptions, 59 yards and a touchdowns is solid production from a No. 2 wide receiver. Rogers might not keep it up all season, but he’s a solid week-to-week play.
Jesse James, tight end
Odds are there are several guys in your league who didn’t get great tight end play last week. That seems to be a trend across the league. The tight end position is feast or famine. But with Ladarius Green still sitting out with injury, Jesse James played every snap on Monday night and hauled in five receptions for 31 yards. Not a great night, but you can see chemistry building between he and Ben Roethlisberger, so don’t be shocked if he finds the end zone this week.
Markus Wheaton, wide receiver
It’s doubtful many managers made a play for Markus Wheaton knowing he was injured. However, the Steelers are loyal and when Wheaton is healthy, he will get plenty of snaps. Whereas Rogers is a natural slot receiver, Wheaton is a boundary player with big-play potential. If he’s cleared to play, you could get yourself a real sleeper.
